Overnight Fire at Hammond-Jones Hardware in LaFayette ruled Arson

Georgia Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner Ralph Hudgens is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone with information about a fire at Hammond-Jones Hardware in LaFayette. People can call in tips to the Georgia Arson Hotline at 1-800-282-5804. According to a news release, the fire occurred around midnight as Tuesday turned to Wednesday. Someone lit the fuse to cause minor damage to the shop, located at 110 N. Main Street. A LaFayette Police officer responded to the scene first around 11:00 Tuesday night and helped contain the flames before the city's firefighters arrived. Company 8 walker prison also responded to the commercial structure fire in downtown LaFayette.
