Suspect arrested after leading multiple agencies on a high speed chase through multiple counties on I-75 late last night reaching speeds over 145mph. The wild high speed chase started when a Cartersville Police Officer attempted to pull over a red Infiniti driven by
Matthew Storm Scarbrough of Tennessee on North Gilmer Street around 11:00p.m. last night. The vehicle didn't stop and continued at a high rate of speed blowing multiple stop signs. The chase continued and went onto I-75 northbound reaching over 100mph. Scarbrough then got off at exit 296 before quickly getting back on I-75 northbound. Bartow County Sheriff's office joined the chase along with the Georgia State Patrol as it continued into Gordon County on I-75 northbound reaching speeds around 145mph. Scarbrough continued on I-75 through Gordon County into Whitfield county. Near exit 326 Georgia State Patrol preformed a PIT maneuver on the vehicle quickly taking taking Scarbrough into custody. Matthew Scarbrough is being charged with Reckless Driving (Misdemeanor), Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer for a Felony Offense (Felony), Failure To Obey Stop Sign or Yield After Stopping (Misdemeanor), DUI-Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol to the extent that it is less safe for the person to drive (Misdemeanor), Reckless Driving (Misdemeanor), and Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer for a Felony Offense (Felony).
