Several acres caught fire Saturday afternoon in Lafayette, Georgia. The fire was spotted by a forestry helicopter that was flying over the area. The information was relayed to Walker County dispatch. Walker County Emergency Services along with Georgia Forestry responded. The brush fire burned nearer 20 acres on West Reed Road. No houses were damaged and no one was injured.

It's unknown what started the fire but authorities suspect it was started by an illegal burn. The fire was quickly contained by Georgia Forestry.
