Six units from the Gordon County Fire Department are at the Gordon County Animal Shelter battling a large fire on Harris Beamer Road. Gordon County 911 reported the first call of the fire came in around 8pm. Gordon County Fire Chief Doug Ralston said all the dogs made it out safely, but the building itself has been almost completely destroyed. He added that at this time there's no indication as to what started the blaze, but said that an investigation to determine the cause is already underway. According to the director of the shelter, all dogs are accounted for and the Calhoun Shelter has graciously taken those animals, as well as some shelter volunteers for the evening. All offers from the public are appreciated, however the assistance is not needed tonight. Additional information will be made available at a later date. Photo by Gordon County Fire & Rescue
