Dalton Police Department is investigating a fatal crash

Dalton Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal crash. Whitfield County 911 received the call about the crash shortly before 5:00 PM Saturday afternoon on the North Bypass in Dalton. Dalton Fire, Whitfield County EMS and Dalton Police Department responded to the scene of the accident. Dalton Police say the driver of a black Ford Mustang was traveling south, when the vehicle crossed into the other lane and hit a 2004 Chevy Silverado truck head on. Dalton Police say the driver of the Mustang was not wearing a seat belt and was killed. Shortly after arriving first responders found t a three vehicle accident two vehicles with heavy damage with people entrapped. They quickly summoned LifeForce to the scene after finding one person unresponsive. One critically injured patient was transported by LifeForce to Erlanger. Two people in the Silverado were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The third passenger was taken to Hamilton Medical Center. The third vehicle was able to escape without any serious damage to the vehicle or injury to the occupants. We will update you when more information is released. (Pictures sent by viewer)
