The Dalton Fire Department say texting could be the reason a 17-year-old driver crashed into the Motel 6 building on Highway 41. There was severe damage to one of the rooms but no major injuries reported. The DFD says a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix drove into the motel room at 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The driver was traveling Southbound on Highway 41 and failed to follow the curve of the road, driving through restaurant parking lot and into the bathroom of a motel rooms. Someone staying the motel room was still in bed, when the bed was pushed into the front wall of the room. They received minor injuries. The driver admitted to texting while driving, and he is charged with using a cell phone while driving under the age of 18. The crash is still under investigation and more charges could be possible.
