Walker County Emergency Services Battle brush fire that was started by a vehicle fire. Walker County 911 received the call around 11:30 Thursday morning about a vehicle on fire on West Highway 136. Walker 500 Engine 9, 11, Wagon 9, along with assistance from New Salem Fire Department Engine 24 from Date County and Georgia Forestry. When crews arrived they found a vehicle fully involved in flames with a fast moving brush fire going up the side of the mountain. unknown What started the vehicle fire no injuries were reported. The wildfire is expected to burn all night. The Georgia Forestry Commission says it is contained now to 20 acres.
