On Sunday, March 5, 2017 at approximately 0118 hours, Cpl. Andy Page conducted a traffic stop on a green Chevrolet Tahoe on Georgia Highway 515. Upon making contact with the occupants of the vehicle, Corporal Page determined that one of the occupants was under the influence of a drug. Upon further investigation, it was determined the driver was changing his story and that everyone in the vehicle had a history of drug use. Cpl. Page asked for consent to search, and it was denied. K9 Corporal Hella then conducted an open air search of the vehicle where she alerted. Upon searching the vehicle, the following was located: 8.1 grams of Heroin, 6.2 grams of Cocaine, 3.7 grams of Methamphetamines, multiple drug related objects, and a stolen firearm. All three occupants were arrested and charged with Intent to Distribute: James Vinson, age 46 of Kingston, GA; Douglas Reid, age 30 of Armuchee, GA; and Sarah Howlett, age 47 of Rome, GA. The Chevrolet Tahoe was seized by the Gilmer County Sheriffs Office.
