Dalton Police Investigating a body found near Home Depot on Shugart Road

Dalton Police have identified the body as 26-year old, Colin Shopshire, who was reported missing by Dalton PD on early Friday morning. Police say the circumstances behind his death are unclear and are not ruling anything out at this time. Officials say the body was found in a creek around 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon. A person in the Academy Sports parking lot saw the body and called police.No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified. Police say it is still very early in the investigation. Dalton Police say his body will be sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy. Dalton Police also ask anyone with information regarding Shropshire’s death to call Detective Brian Shirley at 706-278-9085, dial 9 and enter extension 189.
