Large brush fire in Walker County threatens homes

Walker County 911 said the fire started around 2:30 p.m. Friday Afternoon The Fire was possible started by a passing train in the area. Walker County 911 received multiple calls regarding brush fires along the railroad tracks yesterday afternoon. Crews from Rossville Fire department, Walker County Emergency Services, Catoosa County Fire, along with Georgia Forestry responded to the brush/woods fire. The flames reached 10-15 feet high at moments and spread quickly up the hill. Walker County Emergency Services Assistant Chief Marlin Thompson said one family was evacuated because their house at the top of the ridge was directly in the fire line on Chris Lane, but they have were allowed to return. Georgia Forestry plane spotter along with a helicopter who made water drops responded to help with the fire.
