Suspect arrested after high-speed chase, foot pursuit in Catoosa County on I-75

Suspect arrested after unsuccessfully attempting to flee from the the Georgia State Patrol and Catoosa County Law enforcement.The suspect who is identified as Nathan Dean Sneller, 22, whose driver's license lists a Chickamauga address, was sitting in the passenger's seat of his girlfriend's car at a RaceTrac market near the Battlefield Parkway exit off of I-75 around 8:35 a.m. Thursday, according to GSP Sgt. Darren Gleaton, at the Dalton post. Gleaton said Sneller sped away from the station where his girlfriend was working inside. The suspect tried to hit another vehicle on I-75. The chase went down I-75 before a GSP Trooper ended the pursuit with a PIT causing the vehicle to crash. GSP officials said police canines from the state agency and the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office arrived in the search that began after brief foot pursuit. A police helicopter arrived a few minutes later and "they were able to make visual contact one more time and this time we were successful and took him into custody," Gleaton said.Sneller is now being held on 15 charges, including running a red light, seat belt violation, speeding, reckless driving, fleeing and attempting to elude police, following too closely, four different lane changing violations, obstructing or hindering of a law enforcement officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, passing in a no passing zine and reckless driving in a construction zone.Gleaton said Sneller also had outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants in Walker, Catoosa and Whitfield counties.. A viewer told the North West Georgia Scanner that her husband was nearly hit by the fleeing suspect's vehicle. Another viewer said it appeared a car had gone down into the woods along the interstate causing a heavy police presence in the area while police looked for the suspect. Officials said no injuries were reported during this incident.
