Fatal House Fire On Highland Avenue in Summerville Georgia

Update: A candle is to blame for a deadly fire in Summerville Saturday night, according to a spokesperson for the Georgia commissioner of insurance.Glenn Allen says 52-year-old Timothy Allen Brown was killed in a fire on Highland Avenue. Allen says the home was vacant, and Brown was a vagrant who sometimes stayed in the house.He says they believe Brown was using candles for light when one of them accidentally sparked the fire.

A 52-year-old man has died in a house fire in Summerville. The State fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire. The fire started around 9:50 p.m. at a house at the intersection of Highland Avenues and Ira Pollard Drive . Summerville Police detectives are still trying to find and contact the man's family before releasing his name. Chattooga County Coroner Earle Rainwater is on the scene and trying to identify the deceased.
