Firefighters from Dade and Walker County battle early morning structure fires

Volunteer firefighters from Dade County and Rising Fawn area were called to a structure fire Wednesday just before 4:30 at General Woods Inn on the 1300 block of Deer Head Cove Road a popular wedding venue. The owners of the venue, said they were staying in Cherokee, North Carolina last night when they got the call about the fire from a family member.

Engine 53 was the first to arrive on scene and advised a large two story Structure fully involved in flames. The structure is a total loss, fire crews worked into the daylight putting out the flames. Engine 53, 1, 10, Tanker 54 along Medic 9 responded to the fire.

Walker County 911 revived a call abut a structure fire on Cemetery Road off Highway 341 in Chickamauga. Caller advised it was a private garage on fire. Responding units to fire included Walker Engine 1, 6, 8, 11, Walker 500, 100 along with mutual aid from Catoosa engine 6 and a Puckett EMS unit 806 for standby. Georgia State Patrol (GSP) also help with traffic during the fie. The garage was said to be a total loss along with some cars. No was injured during both fires this morning. The cause of both fires is unknown both are being investigated, we will update you when more information is released.
