Floyd County Police along with other Law Enforcement agencies responded to a reported armed robbery at the Marathon at 2918 Martha Berry Hwy. the suspect identified as Dustin Earl Cotton told a woman to get out her vehicle and proceed to carjack her 2002 Dodge truck. Once police arrived on scene a gathered information they gave out a BOLO to surrounding counties. Police searched the area for the vehicle before quickly spotting it on Hwy. 140. The Vehicle took off from police heading east reaching speeds over 100 mph. Traveling in the wrong lane of traffic. The high speed pursuit continued into Bartow County thats where Cotton bailed on foot leading them on a foot chase. Police requested a K-9 who quickly help police locate and apprehend the suspect. Dustin Earl Cotton, 26, of 2213 Southern Street, is charged with felony charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, theft by taking, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime misdemeanor charges of simple battery, stalking, pointing a firearm at another, and several traffic offenses related to the vehicle pursuit. Police records show that Dustin Earl Cotton has run from Police before and has very lengthy history with the police.
