Suspect wanted for killing Chattooga County man in Floyd County arrested in Arizona by U.S. marshals

U.S. marshals found and arrested a Georgia murder suspect in Phoenix on Friday.

John Wetherington Jr., 27, was wanted by Floyd County Police Department in Georgia in connection with a 2015 robbery and murder during a drug deal. The U.S. Marshals Service was notified that Wetherington may have been living in Arizona, according to a statement from the agency. Officials located him near Seventh Street and Roma Avenue in Phoenix. He was arrested without incident on suspicion of murder, robbery and probation violation. He was booked into the Maricopa County Fourth Avenue Jail to await extradition to Georgia.
