High speed chase of motorcyclist ends in crash and suspect arrested

A Calhoun man has been charged with multiple traffic violations after leading officers on a chase Tuesday evening. According to an incident report from the Calhoun Police Department, a CPD officer observed Adam Israel Avitia traveling on North River Street on a blue sports bike with no tag displayed. The officer’s quick thinking help him remember that a blue sports bike that had been been previously reported stolen in Gordon county, the officer decided to initiate a traffic stop. Avitia took off westbound driving onto the sidewalk of Court Street before jumping onto McConnell Road. Avitia continued at a very dangerous high speed until he topped the hill in front of the McConnell Community Center, thats when the officer briefly lost sight. When officers top the hill they saw he ha crashed and Avitia was laying in the roadway with his hands up. The officers at the scene provided care until fire and EMS could arrive. The Calhoun Police Department charged Avitia with a suspended license, fleeing to elude and no tag. Georgia State Patrol investigated the crash and charged Avitia with reckless driving also.
