Firefighters and Georgia Department of Corrections community coming together for Chief Matthew Mann

Walker State Prison Station 8 Fire chief Matthew Mann was involved in a horrible accident yesterday afternoon on Highway 27 in Walker County. When the call went out over the Radios just before 1:50 yesterday Firefighters and EMS from the area quickly responded to help their fellow brother
firefighter. The Georgia State Patrol Post 41 spokesperson said a Honda traveling south crossed all three lanes of the highway and hit at the Walker State Prison van in which Chief Mann was riving head-on. GSP requested a blood draw from the driver of the Honda to determine if the he was possible under the influence of something at the time of the accident. Chief Mann was last said to still be at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga and is said to still be in serious condition. The community has come to gather offering support and prayers for Chief Friends and family chief Mann, set up a page to update on his condition on Facebook. They are not going to have to remove it." The Georgia Department of Corrections community is organizing a blood drive in honor of Fire Chief Mann. You can donate blood in honor of Chief Mann by check with your local Blood Assurance. Officials from the Fort Oglethorpe Blood Assurance recommended when donating blood, drink plenty of water and eat a meal prior to giving blood, they also require you to bring a picture ID. The Blood Assurance is located at 2720 Lafayette Rd, Fort Oglethorpe. They will be open until 5:30 today and can be reached at 706-861-5983. Any Blood Assurance can take donations in honor of Chief Matthew Mann.
