The GBI and Walker County Sheriff's Office investigating homicide

Update: The Walker County sheriff department identifies suspect in the homicide last night as David Ryan Walker and victim as Candace Ann Hankins both ages 29.

Investigators with the Walker County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation were still gathering evidence at the home on Wheeler Road Monday morning. A homicide was reported to the Walker County Sheriff's Office on Sunday, January 15 the call came in about 7:25 pm. Currently, the sheriff's office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are looking into this case. Deputies, Walker County Emergency Services and the coroner worked overnight at the scene on Wheeler Road in Lafayette. The suspect has been arrested and charged with murder and is currently being held in the Walker County Jail. The suspect is believed to have killed his girlfriend. The victim was also said to be possible pregnant which could bring additional charges. Investigators found her body wrapped in a blanket. Right now, it's unclear how she died or why this happened The names of the suspect and the victim are being withheld pending notification of the deceased's family, Sheriff Wilson said.
