Police looking for suspect after Fatal shooting in Rome

Police are looking for Michael Yates, he is the suspect in this morning's fatal shooting near Flannery Street and East 19th Street. He is already wanted on burglary warrants. He was last seen wearing a brown jacket with chains and has lots of tattoos. He fled on foot on 19th Street. If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of this subject please call 911. The victim has been confirmed dead by police. East Central Elementary School is on a precautionary lockdown but the students are in their classrooms and are safe St. Mary's School is also on lockdown.There is a heavy police presence in the area. Police said the victim in this morning's shooting had multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect, 22-year--old Micheal David Yates, remains at large. After the shooting, Yates fled the scene in a truck and crashed it a few feet from the scene, according to a news release from Rome police. He was last spotted in the area of East 19th and Dean Avenue. If you see Yates, you are asked not to approach him but to call 911. He is considered armed and dangerous. Police have not released any information about the victim. The victim in this morning's shooting is Scotty Dale Graham, 38-years-old, according to Deputy Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor. The cause of death is a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at 7:21 a.m. His body will be taken to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy, according to Proctor. The shooting happened at 718 East 19th Street.
