Firefighters battle house fire in Rome during pouring rain Monday evening

Floyd County 911 received a call just before 7:00 PM about a possible house fire at 3113 Garden Lakes NW Blvd. EMS was the first on scene and advised heavy flames coming out the roof. Multiple engines and Firefighters responded. Once on scene they advised dispatch heavy involved in the front. Fire crews, EMS and Rome PD responded to the fire in the poring rain. Crews quickly got he fire under control and out. The cause of the fire is still unknown but they said it could've possible been started by a lighting strike.
