Armed robbery suspect killed after gunfight with store manager in Cartersville

Update: The man has been identified as 24-year-old Arnold Johnson of Conyers.One man was killed during a gun battle with store manager in Cartersville on early Tuesday morning, according to reports. According to the Cartersville police: Just after 3:30 a.m., Dec. 27, three black males, wearing dark clothing and masks attempted to rob the Sunoco Convenience Store, 2471 Hwy. 411. As they attempted to rob the store, gunfire broke out and one of the suspects was fatally shot. The other two men fled in a late model, dark in color SUV with a Georgia temporary registration.

Cartersville PD along with Georgia State Patrol (GSP) responded to the call. Investigators were shortly called once units arrived on the scene. The identity of the deceased suspect has not been released and is being withheld pending notification of family. we will update as we get more information
