Early morning high speed pursuit ends in crash in Gordon County

According to Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston, at approximately 3:45 a.m. this morning, deputies were dispatched to Martin’s Corner convenience store at Dews Pond for a suspicious call. As the first deputy arrived, he observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of the call.
Deputies immediately knew the vehicle was possible related to call and followed. As deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop the vehicle sped off at triple digit speeds. The deputy pursued the car at high rates of speed to the intersection of Plainview Road and Fairmount Highway (State Route 53). There, the suspect vehicle left the roadway and crashed at a high rate of speed. The deputies in pursuit apprehended three individuals at the scene. A fourth suspect fled on foot and escaped. Two of the occupants were hospitalized. Sheriff’s crime scene technicians were on the scene at the convenience store gathering and processing physical evidence. Other deputies are searching for additional evidence from the crash scene, and contained to search the area for the forth suspect. None of the individuals involved are from this community. Detectives are continuing their investigation and more information will be made public as it becomes available.
