Suspect leads law enforcement on a high speed chase through multiple counties

A Dalton man is in custody after fleeing from authorities and leading them in a High speed chase through multiple counties on Thursday. Pursuit started in Whitfield County and ended after a successful PIT the put the vehicle in a field in Walker County, Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office officials said. The suspect Robert Lanartine Rouillier III, 44, of 1537 Ashton Woods Way, was taken into custody after the chase that involved the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office,Walker County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol. According to Roberts Booking records and History, this is not the first time he has been involved in a chase trying to flee from officers he was arrest back in May of 2015 by the Dalton Police Department for fleeing/attempting to elude police officer. He has a lengthy Criminal history. Sheriff’s Office Capt. Rick Swiney said the call started as a disturbance at a residence on the west side of the county. By the time deputies responded and arrived at the scene, the suspect had left the residence, but the suspect was soon found and the chase ensued. Spike strips was deployed at one intersection to try and flatten some of his tires on the vehicle. The chase lasted for around a good 20 minutes going around the same area before being PIT by GSP into a field. Rouillier has been charged with two counts of fleeing to elude, two counts of driving on a suspended license, two counts of driving on the wrong side of the road, two counts of DUI, two counts of failure to stop at a stop sign, two counts of failure to maintain lane, a seat belt violation, reckless driving, failure to signal and felony probation violation. No injuries were reported as the result of this chase.
