Georgia Forestry said It was going to be another busy day, with humidity expecting to continue to be low, and drop below 20%. We are also expecting variable and gusting winds, especially starting tonight when the wind prevailing direction will most likely change to an east wind. These weather factors increase the probability of extreme fire behavior and increased fire control difficulty. The Georgia Forestry Commission responded responded to and extinguished 29 fires in the North Georgia area between Friday and Saturday morning. We are also working on 3 active fires in the area. One on Treat Mountain near Cedartown and two on Lookout Mountain in Dade/Walker County. We are working on containment of these fires and keeping a watch for any more fire starts in the area. Official are advising residents to stay inside as mushers possible to to all the smoke in the area.
Local firefighters responded to multiple illegal burn calls in the area as well please read the rules and be smart! We posted illegal burns from Saturday evening on our Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/NWGAScanner/posts/1791559504455318
