More wildfires in North Georgia with no sign of stopping

Local fire departments along with Georgia Forestry responded to multiple brush/wildfires in the region Monday. Fires ranging in different acres. The Gordon County Fire and Rescue and Georgia Forestry responded and are fighting several fires in the western part of Gordon County in the Ranger and Fairmount areas. Rome/Floyd County Fire Department Georgia Forestry responded to calls on Morton Bend Road Rd and Rockdale Rd in Silver Creek. Two fires in Chattooga County the first one was reported around just before 3:00 pm near the 7200 block of Hwy 114 in Lyerly, Ga. Local Fire crews responded along with Georgia Forestry. Crews found a structure was in danger but quickly got control of the fire it was around 3 acres. Another fire was respited shortly after the first one in the hay field beside Walmart in Summerville off Hwy 27 it was small and didn't pose a threat to anything Forestry crews arrived just as Local fire departments were called to a possible structure fire on Hawkins Dr. in Summerville. The dry conditions, led to a record number of wildfires across the state this year. October wildfires in Georgia reached more than 200 times the five-year average, according to the Georgia Forestry Commission.
