A Georgia man was arrested for assaulting two Walker County deputies early Thursday morning.

Officials responded to the Endeavor Pointe Apartments around 3:00 a.m., on reports of a prowler in the area. Upon arrival, deputies found 32-year-old Jimmie A. Goins with a large kitchen knife in his possession. When commanded to drop the knife, Goins ran into a family member's home. Thing escalated quickly as officers attempted to apprehend the suspect. Officers called for more officers to responded to the scene fast. Officials followed Goins into the home, where he resisted arrest and fought with deputies. One deputy suffered a minor injury during the incident, and was treated at Cornerstone Medical Center. Goins was arrested and charged with obstruction, aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer, probation violation, and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime.
