Suspect runs from LaFayette Police after traffic stop on W Main St

LaFayette Police Officer Dusty Coker ran-down drug suspect in a foot chase Wednesday with the help of a motorist. After traffic stop on West Main, The Police K-9 "Carlos" alerted on a woman's pocketbook in the back seat. Front seat passenger River K. Mitchell ra away from the scene, with Officer Coker in pursuit. A citizen saw the chase and pulled a vehicle on West Main into the path of the suspect. Mitchell hit the vehicle and fell to the ground at which point he was taken into custody. In the woman purse, officers found bottle with marijuana inside. 17 year old Vada Leanna Pickard was charged with possession of marijuana and schedule 4 pills later identified as xanax. At the Walker County jail Mitchell 18 years old was also charged with passion of marijuana and xanax plus obstruction for running from police. the driver of the car was allowed to leave with a verbal warning for running a red light.
