Little River Canyon National Preserve and multiple teams from other agencies are fighting a wildfire that has burned more than 300 acres in the Martha's Falls and County Road 861 area, which is south of Alabama Highway 35. The National Park Service team from Natchez Trace is also assisting. Air tankers also flew above to help put out the flames. There may be smoke on the roads and emergency vehicle traffic nearby. Use caution if you travel in that area. Officials said the dry conditions in the area added to the fire burning several acres.
